The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, or UMHB, for short, is a Christian co-educational liberal arts institution of higher learning located in Belton, which is a city in Texas state, USA, serving as the county seat of Bell County, with a population estimated at a number of more than 14 600 inhabitants, during the 2000 census.
The university was established in 1845 and was founded by the Republic of Texas, first starting as Baylor Female College, becoming fully co-ed in 1971. It achieved university status in 1978, and afterwards it adopted its current name.
UMHB currently offers its students 57 bachelors and 9 master's degree programs, being fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
UMHB's athletic teams are nicknamed the Crusaders and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their distinctive colors are purple, white and gold.
